ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE & FARMERS WELFARE कृ(cid:874)ष एव ं (cid:873)कसान क(cid:227)याण रा(cid:207)यम(cid:287)ं ी (SHRI RAMNATH THAKUR) (a) : As per the information received from State Government, the area under Co 0238 variety of sugarcane in Uttar Pradesh declined from 86% in 2020–21 to 29% in 2025– 26, reflecting the phased replacement of this variety. District wise area under Co 0238 variety and total area under Sugarcane in UP during 2025-26 is at Annexure I. (b) : During last three years, the State Government has carried out production and distribution of seeds of red rot disease resistant sugarcane varieties in a phased manner through breeder, foundation and primary nurseries. District wise details of disease resistant seed distributed by State Government in last three years is at Annexure II.(c) : As informed by State Government, the pace of variety replacement was slow in the initial phase due to the area under sugarcane variety Co 0238 being more than 86% of the total coverage and the relatively longer time required for the Seed multiplication process of sugarcane seed. However, the pace of variety replacement has now accelerated due to the availability of several new early maturing sugarcane varieties such as CoS 19231, CoS 17451, CoS 18231, CoLk 16202, CoLk 15466, Co 15023 and mid and late maturing sugarcane varieties such as CoS 16233, CoS 15233, CoLk 16470, CoLk 15206, CoLk 14204, CoLk 15207. (d) : As per the data provided by State Government, the area affected by red rot disease in sugarcane, district wise since 2021-22 is at Annexure III. (e) : The State Government has informed that, as a result of the varietal replacement programme, crop losses due to disease have reduced. The yield per hectare has gone up from 81.34 MT in 2023-24 to 81.97 MT in 2025-26.Annexure -I District wise area under Co 0238 variety and total area under Sugarcane in UP during 2025-26 : (Figures in Hectares) Area under Co 0238 District Total Area under Sugarcane variety Saharanpur 55,391 1,19,406 Muzaffar Nagar 94,102 1,76,916 Shamli 50,083 79,057 Meerut 1,02,796 1,57,825 Gaziabad 16,144 23,786 Bulandsahar 52,721 82,333 Baghpat 67,693 85,738 Hapur 15,102 39,841 Aligarh 4,381 6,643 Mathura 2 300 Bijnor 1,14,993 2,55,484 Rampur 8,681 30,613 Muradabad 11,593 75,010 Amroha 45,175 1,00,474 Sambhal 19,017 43,882 Bareilly 11,234 1,01,321 Pilibhit 2,065 1,02,792 Shahjahanpur 7,629 1,00,815 Badaun 5,008 17,014 Kasganj 1,768 3,486 Farrukkhabad 3,113 7,788 Kanpur Nagar 2,934 5,066 Raibareli 551 2,797 Sitapur 42,810 2,22,628 Lakhimpur 24,896 3,55,223 Hardoi 27,852 68,476 Barabanki 585 9,721 Ayodhya 7,385 44,688 Sultanpur 748 8,622Jaunpur 286 2,453 Gazipur 140 4,210 Varanasi 19 2,349 Ambedkar nagar 1,405 19,853 83,633 Behraich 12,189 Area under Co 0238 District Total Area under Sugarcane variety Gonda 12,083 1,07,173 Balrampur 3,703 95,970 Basti 938 63,937 Siddharth nagar 1 387 Gorakhpur 4 2,723 Maharajganj 218 18,776 Kushi nagar 9,236 96,603 Deoria 2,199 13,985 Mau 23 8,537 Azamgarh 3 11,656 Balia 21 1,359 Total 8,38,920 28,61,349Annexure - II District Wise details of disease resistant seed distributed by State Government in last 3 years (Figures in Quintals) Sl.
