SHRI BHAJAN LAL JATAV: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) the number of villages in Karauli district still facing drinking water crisis; (b) the number of handpumps and tube wells out of order and repaired in the said district; (c) the details of approval/progress of new drinking water schemes; and (d) whether the Government proposes to implement any special rehabilitation scheme for the villages facing water problems and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI V. SOMANNA) (a) As reported by the state government of Rajasthan, all villages in Karuali district are being benefited by various water supply schemes. (b) As informed by the state government of Rajasthan, in Karuali district, during current financial year 2025-26, total 2,582 handpumps and 880 tube wells have been found out of order and all have been repaired. (c) As informed by the state government of Rajasthan, all the piped water supply schemes under JJM for providing tap water connection to all rural households in the State, including Karuali district, were approved by the State Level Scheme Sanctioning Committee by May 2023. As reported by the state of Rajasthan on JJM-IMIS, at the start of JJM on 15.08.2019, only 14,855 (6.41%) rural households had tap water connections in Karuali district. Since then, around 1.36 lakh additional rural households have been provided with tap water connections. Thus, as on 14.12.2025, out of 2.32 lakh rural households in Karauli district, the provision of tap water connections is available to 1.51 lakh (65.2%) rural households. (d) As informed by the state government of Rajasthan, no such village has been reported which requires rehabilitation scheme due to water problem. *****
