**Summary:**
In a response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 534 on July 23, 2025, the Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, addressed the electrification of the rail network in Gujarat. The response confirms that Gujarat has achieved 100% electrification of its Broad Gauge (BG) rail network, covering 4,777 route kilometers.
Nationally, approximately 99% of the Broad Gauge network has been electrified, with efforts underway to electrify the remaining sections. From 2014-2025, 46,900 route kilometers were electrified, compared to 21,801 route kilometers in the 60 years prior to 2014.
The Minister noted that the completion of railway electrification projects is subject to factors including forest clearances, utility shifting, statutory approvals, geological and topographical conditions, law and order, and climate, which can impact project timelines. A mechanism is in place for monitoring the progress of electrification projects across the country; details of which were not provided in the response.

The completion of Electrification project(s) depends on various factors
like forest clearances by officials of forest department, shifting of
infringing utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities,
