EMPLOYMENT GENERATION THROUGH MSME UNITS

Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state:
(a) the number of employment opportunities created through MSME units in Telangana
during the last five years;
(b) the estimated jobs generated by MSMEs in Nalgonda Lok Sabha Constituency during the
same period;
(c) whether the Government maintains district-wise employment records and if not, whether
such tracking mechanisms are likely to be introduced; and
(d) the steps being taken to increase MSME-led job creation in backward districts like
Nalgonda through targeted policies and incentives?
ANSWER

(a) to (d): Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) launched Udyam
Registration Portal (URP) on 01.07.2020 for formalization of enterprises. The process of
registration on Udyam is fully online, paperless and based on self-declaration. As on 04.08.2025,
the employment reported under URP including Udyam Assist Platform (from 01.07.2020 to
31.07.2025) in Telangana state, Nalgonda district and Suryapet district were 15919716; 592545
and 544587 respectively.
The steps taken by the Government to support MSMEs which would in turn boost
employment and improve employment conditions in MSMEs including backward districts like
Nalgonda are as follows:
i. Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP):
a) Enhancement of maximum project cost from Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh for manufacturing
sector and from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh for service sector.
b) Inclusion of applicants from Aspirational districts and transgenders under Special
Category eligible for higher subsidy.
c) Industries related to animal husbandry like dairy, poultry, aquaculture, insects (bees,
sericulture, etc.) have been allowed under the scheme.
d) Awareness programmes in all the States/UTs including backward and under-performing
areas, Aspirational districts, North Eastern Region, etc.
e) Conduct of two-days free online Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for
prospective entrepreneurs.: 2 :
f) Acceptance of PMEGP applications in physical form from prospective beneficiaries in 11
regional languages since January 2024.
ii. Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises: The Ministry of Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) jointly
instituted Credit Guarantee Trust Fund for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) in the year
2000, to provide credit guarantees for loans extended by Member Lending Institutions (MLIs)
to Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs).
iii. Self Reliant India (SRI): The Government of India has announced Fund of Funds with the
nomenclature SRI Fund to infuse Rs. 50,000 crore as equity funding in those MSMEs which
have the potential and viability to grow and become large units. This initiative is aimed at
providing growth capital to the deserving and eligible units of MSME sector.
iv. Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP): MSE-CDP is a
central sector scheme for development of clusters. It enhances the productivity and
competitiveness of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) by extending financial assistance as
Government of India (GoI) grant for establishment of Common Facility Centers (CFCs) in the
existing clusters.
v. In addition, Government is implementing various other schemes/ programmes such as Pradhan
Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihoods
Mission (DAY-NRLM), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY),
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY- NULM), Pradhan
Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), etc. for employment generation across various sector
including MSME sector.
vi. Government has also approved the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme to support
employment generation and enhance employability across all sectors including MSME sector.
vii. A National Career Service (NCS) Portal is also operational to improve employment conditions
in the country for career related services including jobs from private and government sectors,
information on job fairs, job search, career counselling etc.
