Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has the data related to total solar energy plants set up in the country during the last five years, State-wise;
(b) the total number of solar plants among the installed plants are made in the country and imported along with the details of the countries from which imports were made during the last five years; and
(c) the details of the imported equipment for setting up of solar power plants like batteries, inverters and other equipment during the last five years, country-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK)
(a) Yes. The State-wise capacities of solar power plants installed in the last five years are given at Annexure-I.
(b) & (c): Solar power plants, as such, are not imported. However, equipment used for setting up solar power plants can be imported into the country. Solar Photovoltaic (PV) modules constitute the highest percentage of cost, among the various inputs that go into setting up of solar power plants.
As per the Export-Import Data Bank of the Department of Commerce, the value of solar PV modules imported from major source countries, during the last five years, is given at Annexure- II. *****Annexure-I Annexure-I referred to in reply of part (a) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.

In FY 2021-22, the HS Code 85414011 was retained for Solar PV Cells and new HS Code 85414012 was brought in for Solar PV Modules.
Subsequently, from FY 2022-23, the Solar PV Cells and Solar PV Modules (other than those exclusively used with ITA-1 items) are put under HS Codes 85414200 and 85414300 respectively.
