GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2932 ANSWERED ON 05TH AUGUST, 2026 EQUIPMENT TO MODERNISE TELECOM AND POSTAL SERVICE †2932. SHRI SATPAL BRAHAMCHARI: Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state: (a) whether any scheme is being operated by the Government for the allocation of upgradable equipment to modernize telecom and postal services and strengthen network capabilities in the Sonipat Lok Sabha Constituency of Haryana; (b) if so, the details of equipment sanctioned and allocated for mobile networks, optical fiber, post office modernization, digital devices and other communication infrastructure in the Sonipat Lok Sabha Constituency over the last three years; (c) whether any proposal is under consideration to provide additional equipment to improve weak mobile networks, internet connectivity and postal services in the region; and (d) if so, the details thereof including estimated costs, implementation timelines and expected benefits? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR) (a) to (d) For upgradation of telecom equipment, BSNL has deployed indigenous 4G services, Multi-service Access and Aggregation Network (MAAN) & Converged Packet Access Network (CPAN) transmission equipment in place of old conventional transmission equipment in Sonipat Lok Sabha constituency. Total 299 numbers of 4G BTS, 216 CPAN &79 MAAN Transmission equipment have been deployed in Sonipat Lok Sabha Constituency. All the Block Head Quarters in Sonipat Lok Sabha Constituency are in Ring Topology. Department of Posts, under its various schemes, such as IT Modernization Project 2.0, has provided funds for upgradation of IT infrastructure of its post offices across the country, including Sonipat Postal Division. During the last three years, Rs. 74,42,373 /- has been spent by the Sonipat Postal Division for providing its post offices with necessary IT infrastructure, such as computers, laptops, printers, scanners, UPS and other computer peripherals. Besides, Department of Posts has incurred expenditure centrally for providing digital connectivity across all its post offices in India. Further, Rs. 23,65,000/- has been allocated to Sonipat Postal Division, for procurement of new IT hardware and digital equipment, in FY 2026-27, to support seamless digital operations and uninterrupted delivery of postal, financial and citizen centric services. ***** 1
