GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CHEMICALS & FERTILIZERS DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICALS & PETROCHEMICALS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3551 ANSWERED ON 24/03/2026 ESTABLISHMENT OF CHEMICAL PARK IN KONKAN, MAHARASHTRA 3551. SHRI DHAIRYASHIL MOHAN PATIL: Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state: (a) the process and criteria for the selection of States under the challenge route for the establishment of the three dedicated Chemical Parks announced in Budget for 2026-27 and whether the Konkan region of Maharashtra has been considered for the same; (b) whether Government proposes to establish cluster-based plug-and-play chemical park in the Konkan region to boost domestic chemical production and reduce import dependence; and (c) if so, the details of the proposed locations, implementation timeline and the anticipated investment involved therein? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR CHEMICALS & FERTILIZERS (SMT. ANUPRIYA PATEL) (a) to (c): Subsequent to the announcement in the Union Budget of FY 2026–27, the proposed scheme for establishment of Dedicated Chemical Parks is currently under formulation. The scheme envisages the development of three such Parks as greenfield projects. Under the proposed scheme, the Parks will be developed with plug-and-play facilities for the industry. The scheme will involve development of common infrastructure facilities and basic utilities. The Government of India would provide partial financial support towards the cost of establishing these facilities and utilities, with the rest to be provided by the concerned State Government. The establishment of these Chemical Parks shall enhance the cost competitiveness of the Indian chemical industry by providing common infrastructure facilities and basic utilities. It will also boost domestic chemical production and reduce import dependence. The Scheme is proposed to be implemented through the challenge route. Accordingly, the Scheme would allow any State in the country including Maharashtra to submit proposals for establishment of the Chemical Parks at any location in the respective state including the Konkan region. The proposals would be evaluated and the most suitable proposals would be selected. *****
