Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the details of major initiatives, research and development, skill training and sustainable
development measures adopted by the Ministry so far for establishing cold chain networks, new food parks
and agro-processing clusters under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), Pradhan Mantri
Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme and Production Linked Incentive
(PLI) scheme along with the impact of these measures on the economic condition of farmers and industries;
and
(b) whether the Ministry has proposed for establishing food processing units and cold chain networks
in Satna district, which has high tomato and onion production capacity and if so, the details thereof and the
likely impact of these initiatives on local farmers and their income generation?

(a) : In order to promote creation of modern infrastructure, agro-processing clusters, cold chain
networks, research and development, skill development and sustainable practices in the food processing
sector, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing two Central Sector Scheme viz.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food
Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and a Centrally sponsored PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing
Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme. These schemes are not region or state specific but demand driven and being
implemented across the country.
These schemes aim towards creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain
management from farm gate to retail outlet which includes storage, transportation, value addition etc.,
thereby help in providing better returns to farmers, reducing wastage of agricultural produce, enhancing
productivity and creating off-farm employment opportunities.
As on 31.12.2025, 4.69 lakh direct/ indirect employment opportunities have been generated from
the operational projects under component schemes of PMKSY, 5.18 lakh direct and indirect
employment opportunities has been generated under PMFME scheme and 3.29 lakh direct/ indirect
employment opportunities has been generated under PLISFPI across the country.
As on 31.12.2025, 36.10 lakh farmers have been benefitted from the operational projects under
component schemes of PMKSY.
As on 31.12.2025, financial assistance of Rs 6650.22 crores has been released under component
schemes of PMKSY, financial assistance of Rs 4316.04 crores has been released/allocated under PMFME
and incentives of Rs 2162.55 crores has been released under PLISFPI across the country.
(b): MoFPI does not set up food processing units on its own. However, it provides financial assistance
in the form of grants-in-aid to eligible entrepreneurs for establishing related infrastructure, through its
schemes as per related scheme guidelines across the country including Satna district of Madhya Pradesh
and thereby creating off-farm employment opportunities & increasing the income of the farmers in Food
Processing Sector. As on 31.12.2025, 171 micro food processing enterprises has been approved under
PMFME Scheme in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
