GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 873 TO BE ANSWERED ON: 06.02.2026 ESTABLISHMENT OF IT PARKS IN JAMMU 873. SHRI SAT PAUL SHARMA: Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) whether Government plans to establish an IT Park in Jammu supported by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to promote IT growth and create employment opportunities for the youth; (b) if so, the current status of the proposal and the timeline for its implementation; (c) the specific steps being taken by Government to leverage STPI’s expertise and provide necessary infrastructure and incentives to make the IT Park successful; and (d) the manner in which the establishment of an IT Park in Jammu aligns with Government’s initiatives, such as Digital India and Make in India and its expected impact on the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (d): The Government of India is making continuous efforts to promote IT industry across India including smaller cities and towns. The Software Technology Park (STP) is one such important scheme in this effort. Under this scheme, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has established 68 centres across the country with 60 centres located in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. A Software Technology Park has been set up in Jammu at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP). This is state-of-the-art facility which offers Incubation services, High Speed Data Communication services, Cloud services, Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT) and other statutory support services for promoting IT/ITeS growth. The STPI centres provide incubator facility which helps entrepreneurs to convert their innovative ideas into startups. The incubator facility provides opportunity of meeting with investors like Venture Capitalists (VCs), mentors from IITs/NITs/Industry and networking opportunity with IT professionals through implementation of various schemes, programmes and Centres of Entrepreneurship which complement Government of India’s efforts. ******
