In Assam, 179 JAKs are operational, including 27 in the Silchar region. A district-wise breakdown of JAKs in Assam is provided in the annexure. During the financial year 2024-25, one JAK each in Nagaon and Kamrup districts were closed, but new JAKs were subsequently opened nearby.
While state-wise data on the number of people directly benefiting from JAKs is not maintained, it is estimated that approximately 1 million to 1.2 million consumers purchase medicines daily from JAKs nationwide.
The scheme does not allocate funds on a state or union territory basis.

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) established under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya
Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) during the last three years;
(b) the number of JAKs presently operational and the number of those have been closed in
Assam particularly in Silchar region, district-wise;
(c) the number of people benefited from Jan Aushadhi Kendras during the said period,
Statewise; and
(d) the details of funds allocated and disbursed for establishment and operation of Jan
Aushadhi Kendras in the said States during the said period particularly in the Silchar region,
district-wise?

(a): Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi PariyojanaPradhan Mantri Bhartiya
Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) scheme, a total of 16,912 Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs)
have been opened till 30.6.2025, out of which 7,737 have been opened during the last three
financial years.
(b): Till 30.6.2025, a total of 179 JAKs have been opened in the State of Assam, of which 27
JAKs have been opened in Silchar. District-wise numbers of JAKs opened in Assam are at
Annexure. During the financial year 2024-25, one JAK each in Nagaon and Kamrup districts
in the State were closed. New JAKs have subsequently been opened in vicinity of the closed
ones.
(c): State-wise number of people benefited from JAKs is not maintained. However, it is
estimated that about 10 to 12 lakh consumers buy medicines daily from JAKs across the
country.
(d): There is no State- or Union-territory-wise fund allocation under the scheme.Annexure
