Shri Maddila Gurumoorthy: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that the Government has accorded in-principle approval for the establishment of a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh; (b) if so, the present status of implementation including land identification and acquisition, approval of infrastructure, sanction of funds and commencement of construction; (c) the reasons for the delay, if any, in establishing the JNV despite according in-principle approval; and (d) the steps being taken by the Government to expedite the establishment of the JNV in Tirupati District along with the timeline fixed for completion of the project and commencement of academic activities? ANSWER MINISTER OF EDUCATION (SHRI PRALHAD JOSHI) (a) to (d) A statement is laid on the Table of the House. *****STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 314 RAISED BY SHRI MADDILA GURUMOORTHY, HON’BLE MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT ANSWERED ON 10.08.2026 REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA IN TIRUPATI (a) to (d): The Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme envisages for opening of one Navodaya Vidyalaya (NV) in each district of the country. Opening of new NVs is a continuous process which depends on the willingness of the concerned State Government/UT administration to make available requisite suitable land, free of cost, for construction of the permanent building and making available required temporary building, free of rent, to run the Vidyalaya till the permanent building is constructed. Sanction and opening of new NVs depends on approval by the competent authority as per extant procedures. As per information received from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), no NV has been sanctioned in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh. At present, 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh have been covered under Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme. Further, two additional NVs, which were sanctioned in Prakasam (now Markapuram) and East Godavari (now Polavaram) on basis of SC/ST concentrated areas, are also functional. Thus, total 15 NVs are functional in the State. *****
