Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the producers of Kinnow in Sri Ganganagar Lok Sabha Constituency send their
produce outside the State as they do not get a fair price for the same and if so, the details
thereof;
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up any processing unit or to launch any
incentive scheme for Kinnow fruit;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) if not, whether the Government would consider a proposal to establish such a
processing unit in Sri Ganganagar in future?

“ESTABLISHMENT OF PROCESSING UNIT FOR KINNOW PRODUCE”
(a) to (d): Kinnow has been identified as One District One Product (ODOP) in Sri Ganganagar
district of Rajasthan, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing
Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented by the Ministry of
Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). MoFPI has approved 34 proposals in Sri Ganganagar
District of Rajasthan till 30.06.2025, under the PMFME Scheme.
Further, under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), a Central Sector
Scheme of MoFPI, the Ministry supports setting up / expansion of food processing industries
and modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail
outlet including storage, transportation and value addition and thus helping in providing better
returns to farmers, reducing wastage of agricultural produce, reduction in post-harvest losses,
enhancing productivity and increasing the processing level.
These schemes are not region specific but demand driven and are implemented across the
country including Sri Ganganagar Lok Sabha Constituency of Rajasthan. MoFPI does not set
up food processing units on its own. However, it provides financial assistance in the form of
grants-in-aid to eligible entrepreneurs for establishing related infrastructure including Kinnow
