Will the Minister of SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP be
pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that nearly 40 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) with the help of
industry have been set up by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in the
country;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise including district-wise in Andhra Pradesh;
(c) whether the said councils are mandated to identify the skill development needs
of respective sectors and determine skill competency standards;
(d) if so, the details of the said needs identified by SSCs in Andhra Pradesh, sector
and district-wise;
(e) whether NSDC provides support to training providers of various sectors; and
(f) if so, the details of the support provided to the respective sectors in Andhra
Pradesh.

(a) to (f) National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of Ministry
of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has formed 36 Sector Skill
Councils (SSCs), led by industry leaders. These SSCs are mandated to identify the skill
development needs of respective sectors as well as to determine skill competency
standards. SSCs conduct skill gap studies from time to time which provide information
on the skills needed. Such studies guide the interventions of the Government for
preparing the workforce as per the industry needs.
SSCs operate across the country. However, 4 SSCs namely, Furniture & Fittings Skill
Council, IT-ITeS Sector Skill Council, Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council and
Telecom Sector Skill Council have designated representatives in the State of Andhra
Pradesh. Details of districts covered in Skill Gap Studies conducted by SSCs in Andhra
Pradesh is given at Annexure-I.
NSDC provides structured support to training providers of various sectors through
accreditation, capacity building, and scheme implementation facilitation under the Skill
India Mission. This includes facilitating access to training infrastructure, digital tools via
the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), curriculum alignment with National Occupational
Standards (NOS), and placement linkages. In Andhra Pradesh, NSDC has partnered
