**Summary:**

To promote Inland Water Transport (IWT), the government has undertaken infrastructure development, including community and tourist jetties, floating terminals, permanent IWT terminals, and fairway maintenance. Policy measures include a Cargo Promotion Scheme, promotion of cargo shift by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and integration with ports.

(b) Yes, lighthouses along the Indian coastline are modernized to enhance maritime
navigation and safety. Aids to navigation are provided in compliance to guidelines and
recommendations of International Organization of Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA).
(c) The measures taken by the Government to promote Inland Water Transport (IWT),
including cargo movement through National Waterways and multimodal logistics
integration includes (i) infrastructure development such as community jetties and tourist
jetties, floating terminals, permanent IWT terminals, fairway maintenance work and (ii)
policy measures such as Cargo Promotion Scheme, shift of cargo by PSUs and
