Parliament Question: Expansion of Mining Areas by NLC

SUDHA R: Will the Minister of COAL be pleased to state: (a) whether there is any proposal to expand the mining areas operated by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) given the fact that any such move would adversely affect the ground water and agricultural fields in Mayiladuthurai Lok Sabha Constituency of Tamil Nadu and if so, the details thereof; (b) the details of locations identified for creating more mines under the Neyveli Lignite Corporation; (c) the status of the proposal to create more mines and the funds, if any, allocated for the purpose; and (d) whether any study has been conducted by the Government to expand the mining areas under the Neyveli Lignite Corporation and if so, the details thereof?
