GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 628 ANSWERED ON 22ND JULY, 2026 EXPANSION OF MOBILE TOWER CONNECTIONS IN ANDHRA PRADESH 628. SHRI PUTTA MAHESH KUMAR: Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state: (a) the details of the total number of mobile towers proposed, under construction and presently functional in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise and in Eluru District; (b) the details of the State and year-wise funds allocated, sanctioned, released, and utilised for the expansion and construction of mobile tower infrastructure during the last five years, district-wise for Andhra Pradesh especially in Eluru District; (c) the details of the employment and skill development opportunities generated for youth in Andhra Pradesh as a result of mobile tower construction and related infrastructure activities, with district-wise particulars; and (d) whether any mobile tower construction projects in Andhra Pradesh have been delayed, if so, the details thereof including the causes of such delays and the corrective measures undertaken by the Government to address the same? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR) (a) Government through Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) has undertaken several schemes for provision of 4G mobile services in identified uncovered villages/locations across the country including Andhra Pradesh State. Under DBN funded Mobile schemes, 4,047 villages/locations have been covered with 4G mobile services through installation of 2,058 towers in Andhra Pradesh as on 30.06.2026. In Eluru district, 65 villages/locations have been covered with mobile services through installation of 56 towers. As on 30.06.2026, the district-wise BTSs (Technology-wise) functional in Andhra Pradesh is attached as Annexure-I (b) The State /UT-wise details of funds disbursed under various Mobile Projects of DBN during last five financial years is attached as Annexure-II (c) Sir, no such record is maintained. (d) In Andhra Pradesh, Digital Bharat Nidhi is funding the following mobile connectivity projects: 1i. Mobile connectivity in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas: Phase2 (LWE-II) ii. Mobile connectivity in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas: Phase-I 4G Upgradation (LWE-I 4G Upgradation) iii. Provision of 4G based mobile services in identified uncovered villages in Aspirational Districts. iv.
