EXTENSION OF PMMSY
†3790. SHRI ARVIND GANPAT SAWANT:
Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING be pleased to
state:
(a) whether the Government has any proposals to extend Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada
Yojana (PMMSY) beyond the year 2025-26;
(b) if not, the reasons for discontinuation of the scheme despite its role in strengthening
Fisheries Sector and employment generation;
(c) the number of Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) at present working under the PMMSY in
Maharashtra district-wise;
(d) whether the Government has any proposals to regularise the services of skilled MTS
workers serving under the scheme for several years; and
(e) whether the Government has any proposals to provide alternative employmentopportunities
or absorb said workers in case of non-extension of the scheme, if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING
(SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH)
(a) to (e): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying
with effect from the FY 2020-21 has been implementing the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada
Yojana (PMMSY) in all States and Union Territories including in the State of Maharashtra
and this scheme has been extended till 30th September, 2026. The Government of Maharashtra
reported that a total 145 contractual Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) engaged under PMMSY are
working in the State of Maharashtra. The District-wise details of MTS presently working
under the PMMSY in Maharashtra as reported by the Government of Maharashtra are given

The Department of Fisheries, Government of India has no such proposal to regularise the
service of skilled MTS, provide alternative opportunities or absorb the said worker, as PMMSY
provides that the engagement of manpower under this scheme co-terminus with the scheme
period.
