Financial and Academic Assistance provided to Kakatiya University
40. Dr. Kadiyam Kavya:
Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the details of financial, academic and research assistance provided by the Union
Government through the University Grants Commission (UGC) to Kakatiya University and
its affiliated institutions during each of the last three years; and
(b) the details of grants sanctioned, funds released and funds utilized for research,
infrastructure development, faculty development and higher education facilities during the
last three years, scheme-wise?

(a) & (b): The Department of Higher Education is implementing the Rashtriya Uchchatar
Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, aimed at funding specific State
government universities and colleges, so as to improve their quality.
The government has launched the third phase of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha
Abhiyan (RUSA) in June 2023 in the form of Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan
(PM-USHA) for the period 2023-24 to 2025-26. Under the Scheme, support is provided to
States/UTs for strengthening infrastructure, including construction of hostels, academic and
administrative buildings, laboratories and other facilities required for improving access and
quality in higher education.
Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana has been approved support of Rs. 50
crore under ‘Research Innovation & Quality Improvement’ component of RUSA 2.0 for
construction of Research Centres, Entrepreneurship, Employability and Innovation hubs and
conducting various research projects. As per the MPR submitted by the State of Telangana
for the month of June 2026, out of the total approved amount of Rs. 50 crore, Rs. 28.56
crore has been released to the University.
