GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.3649 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10.08.2026 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR IMPROVING FACILITIES AT THE HASANAMBA TEMPLE 3649. SHRI SHREYAS M PATEL: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has received any proposal from the Government of Karnataka seeking special financial assistance for the conservation, infrastructure development and pilgrim amenities at the Hasanamba Temple, Hassan district; (b) if so, the details thereof, including the amount sought, the present status of the proposal and the action taken by the Government; (c) whether any Central Government scheme provides financial assistance for infrastructure development, heritage conservation, crowd management, sanitation, drinking water, parking and pilgrim amenities at temples managed by State Governments or Muzrai Departments; (d) whether the Government proposes to extend financial assistance for improving facilities at the Hasanamba Temple, particularly in view of the large number of devotees visiting the temple during its annual opening festival; (e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and (f) whether the Government is likely to consider any proposal from the State Government of Karnataka for extending such assistance and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) There are 506 Centrally Protected Monuments and Sites in the State of Karnataka under the & jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Conservation, day to day (b) maintenance and up keep of all these monuments and sites are carried out as per the need and availability of resources. However, Hasanamba Temple, Hassan district is not a centrally protected monument of ASI. No such proposal has been received by ASI from the Government of Karnataka.(c) ASI undertakes conservation, maintenance and development works at its centrally protected monuments out of the budget allocated by the Govt. of India. These works are carried out as per requirement & availability of resources and based on the approved annual conservation programme. Ministry of Tourism under its scheme called the “National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)” provides Financial Assistance to the State Government and Union Territories Administration for development of Tourism Infrastructure at the identified Pilgrimage destinations/ Heritage Cities. The selection of pilgrimage destinations / heritage sites under PRASHAD Scheme is based on various parameters, which, inter-alia, include the number of footfalls, cultural, historical & heritage significance of the locations, equitable representation to ensure nationwide development, and other factors. This process is undertaken in consultation with State Governments (SGs) and UT Administrations (UTs). No project for the development of Hasanamba Temple is currently under consideration under the PRASHAD Scheme. (d) No such proposal has been received in ASI for improving facilities at the Hasanamba Temple, & particularly in view of the large number of devotees visiting the temple. (e) (f) No such proposal is under consideration. *****
