GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 504 ANSWERED ON 22.07.2026 FLOATING SOLAR PV PROJECTS IN WATER BODIES OF DELHI 504. SHRI MANOJ TIWARI Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has identified suitable water bodies including reservoirs, lakes, ponds and drains in the National Capital Territory of Delhi for the development of Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) projects under the draft Floating Solar PV Potential Assessment Report prepared by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE); (b) if so, the details of the water bodies identified in Delhi, their estimated floating solar generation potential and the present status of each proposed project including the pilot project at Bawana; (c) whether the Government proposes to provide a single-window clearance mechanism for floating solar projects in Delhi involving agencies such as the Delhi Government, Delhi Jal Board, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and other authorities and if so, the details thereof; and (d) the targets fixed for installation of floating solar capacity in Delhi by the year 2030 along with the financial assistance and implementation roadmap envisaged for the National Capital Territory? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) & (b) As per the “Solar PV Potential of India – Floating Solar” report published by National Institute of Solar Energy in June 2026; India’s floating solar potential is estimated to be 102.18 GWp. As per this assessment, no Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) potential has been identified in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. However, as per the inputs received from the Government of NCT of Delhi, Indraprastha Power Generation Co. Ltd (IPGCL), a power generating company of the Delhi government, has initiated the tendering process for a proposed floating solar power plant of around 2.904 MW capacity on the raw water reservoir at Pragati Power Station–III, Bawana. (c) As per the inputs received from the Government of NCT of Delhi, there is currently no specific proposal for single window clearance mechanism for floating solar projects in Delhi. (d) As per the inputs received from the Government of NCT of Delhi, no such target has been fixed at present. *****
