Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has any proposal to set up new food processing industries at the district level across Tamil Nadu, especially in districts having hilly and mountain regions;
(b) if so, the details thereof, district-wise;
(c) the details of the role being played by the Government under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Food Processing Industry and Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme in the development of food processing parks and units being set up in Tamil Nadu; and
(d) the details of financial assistance provided to private entrepreneurs for setting up such units during the last three years? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI CHIRAG PASWAN)
(a) to (d): A statement is laid on the Table of the House. *****STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. *93 FOR ANSWER ON 05TH FEBRUARY, 2026 REGARDING “FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES IN TAMIL NADU”.
(a) & (b): The Ministry of Food Processing industries (MoFPI) does not setup any food processing industries on its own. However, it incentivizes setting up of such industries through its Central Sector Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) Scheme, Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and a Centrally sponsored PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme across the country including hilly and mountain regions of Tamil Nadu. These schemes are not region or state specific but demand driven. The details of food processing projects sanctioned by MoFPI under the said three scheme in the districts of Tamil Nadu is given at Annexure-I.
(c) & (d): MoFPI provides subsidy/incentives to the eligible entities, as per scheme guidelines across the country including Tamil Nadu. The details of incentives available under these schemes of MoFPI are given at Annexure-II and the total financial assistance provided /expenditure incurred under these schemes during last three years i.e. 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 is given at Annexure-III.

CAGR- Compound Annual Growth Rate The details of assistance available to Micro Food Processing Enterprises under PMFME Scheme
(i). Support to Individual / Group Category Micro Enterprises: Credit-linked capital subsidy @35% of the eligible project cost, maximum ceiling Rs.10 lakh per unit;
(ii). Support to SHGs for seed capital: Seed capital @ Rs. 40,000/- per member of SHG engaged in food processing for working capital and purchase of small tools subject to maximum of Rs. 4 lakh per SHG Federation.
(iii). Support for Common Infrastructure: Credit linked capital subsidy @35% subject to maximum of Rs. 3 crore to support FPOs, SHGs, Cooperatives and any Government agency for setting up of common infrastructure. The common infrastructure will also be available for other units and public to utilize on hiring basis for substantial part of the capacity.
(iv). Branding and Marketing Support: Grant upto 50% for Branding and Marketing to groups of FPOs/ SHGs/ Cooperatives or an SPV of micro food processing enterprises.
(v).
