Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the schemes and programmes under the Ministry implemented in Andhra Pradesh
especially in Konaseema district, scheme-wise and district-wise;
(b) the number of beneficiaries/food-processing units/micro food enterprises and FPOs
supported under these schemes in Andhra Pradesh especially in Konaseema district, district-
wise;
(c) the funds sanctioned, released and utilised under the said schemes in Andhra Pradesh
during the last three years especially in the said district, year-wise and district-wise;
(d) the infrastructure created under these schemes in the said States especially in
Konaseema district, district-wise;
(e) the capacity-building and skill-development programmes conducted for food-
processing entrepreneurs and workers in Andhra Pradesh especially in the said district and the
beneficiaries thereof;
(f) the employment opportunities generated under various food-processing schemes in the
said States especially in Konaseema district, district-wise;
(g) whether any proposals from Andhra Pradesh particularly from Konaseema district are
pending for approval, if so, the details thereof; and
(h) whether the Government proposes to include coir products from Konaseema district
under the One District One Product scheme and if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES

(a): In order to promote and ensure overall development of Food Processing Industries,
Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been incentivizing setting up/expansion
of related infrastructure through its two Central Sector Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan
SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing
Industry (PLISFPI). MoFPI is also implementing a Centrally sponsored scheme namely PM
Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. All the three schemes
are not region specific but demand driven and are implemented across the country including
Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh.
(b) : The details of approved food processing units under the said three schemes of MoFPI in
the state of Andhra Pradesh, district wise including in the district of Konaseema is given at
Annexure-I.
(c): State/UT-wise allocation of funds are not made under PMKSY & PLISFPI. However year-
wise total budget allocation & utilization of funds since 2022-23 and details of Centre share of
funds under PMFME scheme since 2022-23 released to Andhra Pradesh are given at
Annexure-II.
(d): The details of operational food processing units under the said three schemes of MoFPI in
the state of Andhra Pradesh, district wise including in the district of Konaseema is given at
Annexure-III.(e): The Capacity Building component of the PMFME Scheme envisages providing 24 Hours/
3 Days, Food Processing Enterprise Development Programme (EDP) Training for all
applicants of individual and Group category (SHGs/ FPOs/ Cooperatives) recommended for
availing credit linked grant by District Level Committee (DLC) and 8 hours/1day training for
SHG beneficiaries of Seed Capital under PMFME scheme. So far, 7,534 beneficiaries have
been trained in the State of Andhra Pradesh including 109 beneficiaries from Konaseema
district.
(f): The details of employment generated through operational food processing units under the
said three schemes of MoFPI in the state of Andhra Pradesh, district wise including in the
district of Konaseema is given at Annexure-IV.
(g): PMKSY and PMFME schemes are demand driven in nature and applications are invited
online. Projects are approved, as per respective scheme guidelines.
(h): One District One Product (ODOP) approach under PMFME Scheme has been adopted to
reap the benefit of scale in terms of procurement of inputs, availing common services and
marketing of products. It provides the framework for value chain development and alignment
of support infrastructure. The ODOP are identified by States / UTs based on the agriculture
production, raw material availability, perishability of the product etc.
Coir is a natural fiber and not a food product and thus not covered under PMFME
Scheme. However, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade has identified
‘Coir’ as ODOP products in Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh.
