GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3974 ANSWERED ON 12TH AUGUST, 2026 FUNDS ALLOCATED TO CHHATTISGARH UNDER BHARATNET PROJECT 3974. SHRI BRIJMOHAN AGRAWAL: WILL the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state: (a) the details of total funds allocated to Chhattisgarh under BharatNet Project with the district- wise break-up along with each phase-wise (I, II and III) funds released and expenditure incurred to date; (b) the list of connected villages in Chhattisgarh with OFC cable and the number that are fully operational, if so, the details district-wise along with each phase-wise (I, II and III); (c) whether the Government is aware that several Gram Panchayats in Chhattisgarh connected through OFC remain non-operational due to various disputes between CHiPS and Tata Projects Limited and the steps being taken to resolve the issue; (d) the State/UT-wise details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred under BharatNet in each phase (Phase I, II and III) as on date; and (e) the detailed list of Gram Panchayats actively connected BharatNet with each phase- wise (I, II, and III) across the country and if so, the details thereof, State-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR) (a) to (e) As on 30.6.2026, the total funds disbursed under BharatNet Phase I, II and Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) for the state of Chhattisgarh is Rs. 2,757 crore. The state/UT-wise details of funds disbursed under BharatNet Phase I, II and ABP is at Annexure- I. A total of 9,681 Gram Panchayats (GPs) had been connected with OFC in the State of Chhattisgarh under BharatNet Phase I and II. The total operational GPs in the State, as on 30.6.2026, are 833. The district wise details of GPs connected with OFC in Chhattisgarh is given at Annexure-II. The state-wise list of GPs connected under BharatNet Phase I, II and ABP is at Annexure-III. The Government of India has approved ABP under design, built, operate and maintain model for upgradation of the existing BharatNet network, creation of network in balance GPs and Operation & Maintenance of GPs. The Government of India has communicated in- principle approval to the Government of Chhattisgarh for implementation of ABP under state- led model.
