Parliament Question: Funds for Modernisation of Nizamsagar Power House

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2786 ANSWERED ON 05.08.2026 FUNDS FOR MODERNISATION OF NIZAMSAGAR POWER HOUSE 2786. SH. EATALA RAJENDER Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government of Telangana has sent any proposal to the Union Government for Renovation and Modernization of Nizamsagar Power House (2x5 MW) under the financial support from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy scheme 50 percent of the Repair and Maintenance (R&M) expenditure to be funded by MNRE in the form of grant and 50 percent from Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGENCO) funds – release of 90 percent payment for civil Repair and Maintenance (R&M) works and Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) works as CFA (Central Financial Assistance); (b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereon; and (c) the details of funds sanctioned, spent in this regard? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) to (c) Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) accorded In Principle Approval to Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO), now known as Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGENCO) on 07.07.2017 with total Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of Rs. 5.38 Crore for Renovation & Modernization (R&M) of Nizamsagar Power House, considering total estimated cost of Rs. 10.76 Crore. Extension of the project duration for completion of the R&M project has been granted up to 10.11.2027. As on date no funds have been released to TGGENCO for R&M of Nizamsagar Power House. *****
