ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL
DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
(SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY)
(a) Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, a total of 1.31 lakh candidates
have been trained across the country during the current financial year (as of 31st December 2025).
(b) Yes. As on 31.12.2025, around 5.10 lakh candidates have been trained in new-age and futuristic
job roles under PMKVY 4.0 across the country.
(c) The Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), launched in 2023, provides flexible, short-term, job-oriented
training modules of a few hours to weeks’ duration, accessible anytime and anywhere, and aligned with
industry requirements and the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), with provisions for
assessment and certification. Currently, 1,477 online courses are available on SIDH.
(d) Under PMKVY, placements were tracked in the Short-Term Training (STT) component in the first
three versions of the Scheme - PMKVY 1.0, PMKVY 2.0 and PMKVY 3.0, implemented from FY 2015-
16 to FY 2021-22. Under PMKVY 4.0, the focus is to empower trained candidates to choose their varied
career path, either self-employment or wage-employment, and they are suitably oriented for the same
through industry-relevant skill courses that include On-the-Job Training (OJT). Sector-wise details of
candidates certified under PMKVY 4.0 during the current Financial Year 2025-26 (upto 31.12.2025) is
given at Annexure.
(e) Under PMKVY 4.0, training has been standardized through the National Skills Qualification
Framework (NSQF), aligning courses with industry needs and national priorities. Leading companies such
as HCL Technologies, IBM, Bajaj Finserv, and Microsoft have been designated as Awarding Bodies to
develop industry-aligned job roles. The courses are designed by Sector Skill Councils which are industry-
led bodies which ensure relevance and responsiveness to the needs of respective sectors. Continuous
feedback from industry ensures curricula remain updated with current market needs.
The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) stipulates that the demand for
every job role or qualification must be validated by industry, and industry participation is ensured in the
development and review of job roles. NCVET has also undertaken a rationalization exercise, under which
more than 6,000 job roles have been archived due to low demand and limited relevance in the current
labour market scenario.Annexure
