Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware of the gap between registration and actual submission of
applications under the Pradhan Mantri-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY) in Tamil
Nadu;
(b) if so, the steps taken or proposed to be taken by the Union Government to encourage more
registrations and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) the details of the total number of Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (RTPV) systems installed under
the yojana in Tamil Nadu since its inception and the pending applications yet to be cleared,
district-wise?

(a) to (c) To simplify the process of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY), the
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has done away the requirement of registration and
consumers willing to get benefitted under the scheme has to directly apply on the National Portal
of the scheme.
As on 30.11.2025, against 60,386 applications received under the scheme for the state of Tamil
Nadu, a total of 47,696 rooftop solar (RTS) systems have been installed, benefitting 55,255
households in the state. The district-wise details of progress made under PMSG: MBY in the state
of Tamil Nadu is given at Annexure.
