Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:
(a) total number of Global Capability Centres (GCCs)currently operating across the country, State
and City-wise including number of persons employed, City-wise;
(b) total annual revenue generated by these GCCs, with a sector-wise breakup during the last five
years, year and city-wise;
(c) whether the Government has undertaken or supported any initiatives to promote the
establishment and expansion of GCCs in Tier-2/3 cities, especially in the State of Andhra Pradesh
including cities such as Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Vizianagaram;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken so far to implement these plans;
(e) the number of GCCs currently operating in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, State-wise;
(f) whether the Government is considering any policy support, infrastructure incentives or special
economic packages to encourage further GCC growth in emerging cities and smaller towns; and
(g) if so, the details thereof including proposed incentives, targeted geographies and
implementation timelines?

(a) to (g): As per National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), there
are more than 1700 GCCs operating in India.
The total revenue generated by these GCCs in last 5 years has grown from USD 40.4 billion in
FY19 to USD 64.6 billion in FY24 with CAGR of 9.8%. GCCs have grown from being support
centers for basic tasks to a research and development and design hubs.
Together, these GCCs employ more than 19 lakhs persons in the country.
To strengthen India’s GCC ecosystem, it was announced in Union Budget 2025-26 that a national
framework will be formed to guide states on promoting GCCs in tier II cities. The framework will
suggest measures for enhancing availability of talent and infrastructure, building byelaw reforms,
and mechanisms for collaboration with industry.Further, many State Governments such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil
Nadu, Telangana etc. have come with dedicated policies to support establishment and expansion
of GCCs.
