Green Credit Programme in Andhra Pradesh
4397. SHRI SANA SATHISH BABU:
Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state:
(a) the number of green credit projects approved and registered in Andhra Pradesh, along with
the details of participating public and private entities under Green Credit Programme;
(b) the district-wise details of land area identified for afforestation aimed at generating Green
Credits as of February 2026;
(c) the steps taken to promote local communities, self-help groups, and tribal population
involvement in plantation and maintenance activities; and
(d) whether Government is considering to scale up afforestation-based Green Credit initiatives
in that State in alignment with national climate commitments and SDGs and if so, the details
thereof?

(a)to (b) The district wise details of degraded forest land taken up for afforestation under
the Green Credit Programme is placed at Annexure-I. So far, no entities have come
forward for taking up degraded forest lands for eco-restoration under the Green
Credit Programme in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
(c)to (d) The Government is implementing several schemes like National Mission for a
Green India (Green India Mission), MISHTI (Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline
Habitats & Tangible Incomes), Nagar Van Yojana, School Nursery Yojna, and
Compensatory Afforestation Fund, including under the Green Credit Programme
for restoration of degraded forest areas. In addition, the Government has launched
the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” to encourage citizens to plant
trees as a tribute to their mothers and to promote mass participation in tree
plantation activities.
Under various afforestation and wildlife conservation programmes, Joint Forest
Management Committees (JFMCs) and Eco Development Committees (EDCs) are
constituted at the village levels, which enables community participation in
sustainable forest management and wildlife conservation, while addressing the
livelihood needs of local communities.
Further, these initiatives aim at restoration of degraded forest lands, enhancing
carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, increasing productivity of forest
resources and ecosystem services, while generating livelihood opportunities for
local communities.
