SHRI S JAGATHRATCHAKAN Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state: (a) Whether the Union Government has reviewed the progress of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II in Tamil Nadu to enhance renewable energy transmission and if so, the details thereof; (b) the details of funds allocated and infrastructure developed under GEC Phase-II in Tamil Nadu; (c) whether Tamil Nadu’s renewable energy capacity has been adequately integrated into the national grid and if so, the details thereof; and (d) the steps taken by the Government to address transmission bottlenecks in southern States like Tamil Nadu? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) The Union Government is closely monitoring the implementation of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase- II including Tamil Nadu. Central Electricity Authority (CEA) is entrusted with monitoring of the projects and to ensure that the projects follow all the norms (including safety standards) prescribed by Central Government and State Government. All the State Transmission Utilities (STUs) submit monthly progress report to MNRE. Additionally, MNRE is reviewing the progress through Project Appraisal Committee (PAC) meetings with respective state officials to assess the challenges and accelerate implementation. (b) Under Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-II, a project has been sanctioned to Tamil Nadu for evacuation of approximately 4000 MW renewable energy capacity. The project includes construction of 624 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 2200 MVA substation capacity. The total estimated project cost is ₹719.76 crore, with Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of 33% of the project cost.
