GREEN ENERGY CORRIDOR PROJECT IN ANDHRA PRADESH

Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) the total Central Financial Assistance (CFA) sanctioned, released and pending under the Intra-
State Green Energy Corridor Project in the country including the grant eligible for Andhra
Pradesh, amount released so far and balance pending along with the reasons for any delay;
(b) the status of Andhra Pradesh’s inclusion in Phase-II of the Green Energy Corridor Project;
(c) whether a proposal has been submitted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in this regard and
if so, the details thereof and the criteria for selection of States under Phase-II;
(d) the total renewable energy capacity integrated into the grid through Phase-I of the Green Energy
Corridor, State-wise including Andhra Pradesh and impact on grid stability and renewable
energy evacuation;
(e) the steps taken by the Government to ensure timely release of pending funds and to assist States
in preparing and submitting proposals for subsequent phases; and
(f) the measures envisaged to expand intra-state transmission infrastructure under Green Energy
Corridor to further integrate renewable energy into the grid, reduce curtailment and promote
adoption of clean energy?

(a) The total Central Financial Assistance (CFA) sanctioned, released under the Intra-State Green
Energy Corridor (GEC) phase I & II in 10 States including Andhra Pradesh is placed at Annexure I.
(b) No projects have been sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh under GEC phase II.
(c) A proposal had been submitted by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. However, the project
was withdrawn by the State Government.
(d) The Government of India has launched Green Energy Corridor (GEC) scheme to strengthen intra
state transmission system. Under GEC Phase-I, intra-state transmission projects were implemented
in eight RE-rich states including Andhra Pradesh to integrate around 24 GW of renewable energy.
The state wise detail of total renewable energy capacity integrated into the grid through Phase-I of
the Green Energy Corridor is attached at Annexure -II.
(e) As per GEC Scheme guidelines, request for availing the eligible CFA shall be submitted by the
State Transmission Utility (STU) to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) with a copy to the
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) alongwith the documents such as Detailed Project
Cost (DPR), awarded cost, copy of notice inviting tender, award of contract etc. CEA provides its
recommendations to MNRE.A Project Appraisal Committee (PAC) is constituted which will evaluate and recommend the
proposals to MNRE based on the recommendation reports received from CEA.
Thereafter funds are released by MNRE following due diligence. Further during 2024, the Ministry
has written letters to the states for preparing transmission plans for next phase in advance.
(f) The Green Energy Corridor (GEC) scheme is implemented in ten states for evacuation of around
44 GW of Renewable Energy (RE) and to strengthen transmission for large-scale RE integration.
Further, in order to strengthen and expand the transmission infrastructure for seamless integration
and evacuation of growing renewable energy (RE) capacity across different states, MNRE has
requested states to share their proposal regarding intra-state transmission system.
