HANDLOOM INFRASTRUCTURE PROPOSALS

Will the Minister of TEXTILES वस्त्र मंत्री
be pleased to state :
(a) the details of the proposals received from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh during the last
five years for handloom-related infrastructure including Handloom Clusters, Weavers' Clusters,
Common Facility Centres and other infrastructure components, district-wise for Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the current status of each proposal, including whether approved, rejected or pending, along with the
reasons for pendency, if any;
(c) the details of funds allocated, sanctioned, released and utilised for Andhra Pradesh under handloom
cluster and infrastructure schemes during the said period along with the physical progress achieved,
project-wise; and
(d) whether any proposals from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, particularly from Kakinada
district, are presently pending or under consideration with the Union Government and if so, the details
thereof including date of submission and expected timeline for decision?

(a) to (c): To provide end to end support for promotion of handloom sector and welfare of handloom
workers, Ministry of Textiles is implementing National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP)
Scheme across the country including Andhra Pradesh State. Under this scheme, financial assistance is
provided to eligible handloom agencies/weavers for procurement of upgraded looms & accessories, solar
lighting units, construction of workshed, skilling, product & design development, technical and common
infrastructure, marketing of handloom products in domestic & international markets, concessional loans
under weavers’ MUDRA scheme and social security etc.
District-wise, project-wise details of proposals received, funds sanctioned/released to 44 Handloom
Clusters in Andhra Pradesh State alongwith beneficiaries covered during the last five years is at
Annexure-I.
(d): As NHDP Scheme was approved for five years till 31st March, 2026, in this current financial year,
priority has been given to sanction/release of 2nd/final installment of ongoing projects.Annexure-I
