ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE
MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS
(SHRI TOKHAN SAHU)
(a)to(c): Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has been
implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U)
since 25.06.2015 with an aim to provide all weather pucca
houses with basic civic amenities to eligible urban beneficiaries
across the country.
Based on the learnings from the experiences of implementation
of PMAY-U, MoHUA has revamped the scheme and launched
PMAY-U 2.0 ‘Housing for All’ Mission with effect from 01.09.2024
for implementation in urban areas across the country to support
1 crore additional eligible beneficiaries in next five years.
...2/--2-
PMAY-U 2.0 is implemented through four verticals i.e.,
Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in
Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and Interest
Subsidy Scheme (ISS).
PMAY-U/PMAY-U 2.0 adopts a demand driven approach wherein
States/Union Territories (UTs) have conducted demand survey
through their Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/implementing agencies
in their respective jurisdictions, based on eligibility criteria.
States/UTs formulate project proposals as per their assessed
demand of houses under the Scheme and get them approved by
State Level Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (SLSMC)
constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of the
State/UT concerned. After approval from the concerned SLSMC,
States/UTs submit the proposals to this Ministry for approval of
Central assistance by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring
Committee (CSMC).
Based on the project proposal submitted by States/UTs, a total of
122.28 lakh houses including 10.66 lakh under PMAY-U 2.0 have
been sanctioned by the Ministry, so far. Out of which 114.84 lakh
houses have been grounded and 97.02 lakh are
completed/delivered to the beneficiaries across the country as
on 22.01.2026. The number of houses sanctioned and completed
under the PMAY- U including PMAY-U 2.0 since its inception,
component and year-wise is at Annexure-I. The details of total
houses sanctioned and completed for slum households since the
inception of year-wise under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 is at
Annexure-II.
