HOUSES TO THE FAMILIES IN GUJARAT

Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the number of families provided with the houses so far in
Gujarat under the Pradhan MantriAwasYojana (Gramin);
(b) the details of impact made by the said scheme on tribal
dominated districts including Gujarat have been completed;
and
(c) whether the geo-tagging in respect of houses of all
beneficiaries in Gujarat have been completed, if so, the details
thereof?

(a): The Ministry of Rural Development is implementing the
Pradhan MantriAwaasYojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) w.e.f. 1st April,
2016 to provide assistance to eligible rural households for the
construction of Pucca houses with basic amenities to achieve the
objective of "Housing for All" in rural areas. Under the PMAY-G, the
initial target was construction of 2.95 crore houses during FY 2016-
17 to 2023-24. The Government of India has approved continuation
of implementation of the scheme for 5 more years during FY 2024-25
to 2028-29 to provide assistance to 2 crore additional houses as per
the existing unit assistance.
Under PMAY-G, a target of 9,02,354 houses has been allocated
to the state of Gujarat, against which the state has given sanctions
to 8,29,202 beneficiaries and 5,88,790 houses have been completed
as on 24.07.2025.
Page 1 of 3(b): The benefit of the scheme is being provided to the most
vulnerable eligible beneficiaries based on the housing deficiency
and other social deprivation parameters prescribed in Socio
Economic Caste Census (SECC) - 2011. Further, a minimum of 60%
of the target allocated to each State/UT is earmarked for Scheduled
Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribes (ST) households subject to availability
of eligible beneficiaries in the Permanent Wait List (PWL). The
earmarking defines only the minimum limit that should be achieved
and if the States/UTs so desire they may add to target under these
categories to ensure saturation.
The Ministry allocates the targets to the State/UT as a whole
and District-wise/Block-wise/Gram Panchayat wise targets are fixed
by the State (including tribal dominated districts). The district wise
details of targets allocated, houses sanctioned and houses
completed in Gujarat (including the tribal dominated districts) is at
Annexure.
(c): Release of installments to a beneficiary is dependent upon
completion of a pre-determined stage of construction and uploading
of geo-tagged, time and date stamped photograph of that stage on
AwaasSoft through AwaasApp. Under the PMAY-G, it is mandatory
to upload geo-tagged photographs with time and date at each stage
of house construction, including geo-tagging of the „existing site‟
and „proposed site‟ before house sanction. The AwaasApp mobile
application of the Ministry facilitates the same.
