The Metro Rail projects are highly cost intensive, which undergoes thorough appraisal process and examination at different levels in Central Government as per relevant provisions of Metro Rail Policy, 2017. The approval of project depends upon outcome of such appraisal process, feasibility of project and availability of the resources, therefore, no timeline of the project can be fixed for approval. …2/--2- (c): Government of Telangana (GoTG) has informed that a six-member committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, GoTG has been constituted on 19.11.2025 for taking over of Phase-I of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project by GoTG or its entities. Government of India (GoI) has nominated one member on the committee solely to advise on the technical feasibility of the integration of the proposed Phase-II network with the existing Phase-I metro network. Government of India has advised GoTG that entire range of options, illustratively (a) a system with interoperability by a single operating entity or (b) an interoperable system with more than one operator or (c) any combination/s thereof are also available for GoTG for operation of existing Phase-1 and proposed Phase-II network. Government of India has further directed the GoTG that the preferred option be submitted to the Central Government for taking a holistic view on such a cost intensive project. *****
