Impact of Ayushman Arogya Mandir on Public Health

Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres)
established under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) across the country including the
specific number in the State of Maharashtra;
(b) the total number of beneficiaries who have availed healthcare services from these centres
since their inception in the country, State/UT-wise including Maharashtra;
(c) whether the Government has undertaken any formal evaluation of the impact of these
centres on improving public health outcomes and promoting traditional systems of medicine;
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the key findings from such assessments, particularly in
terms of patient satisfaction, disease prevention and reduction in treatment burden on
allopathic facilities; and
(e) whether any steps have been taken by the Government based on these findings to further
enhance infrastructure, staffing and service quality at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, especially
in underserved regions like rural and tribal areas in Maharashtra?

(a) & (b) Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme National Ayush Mission (NAM), as per the
proposals received from State / UT Governments including Maharashtra through their State
Annual Action Plans (SAAPs), 12500 units of existing Ayush Dispensaries and Sub Health
Centres have been approved to be upgraded as Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) [AAM
(Ayush)]. The State/UT-wise status of approved and functional AAM (Ayush) including
Maharashtra is furnished at Annexure I. Further, as reported by State/UT Governments, the
1State/UT-wise number of beneficiaries including Maharashtra who have availed the services
through these AAM (Ayush) from 2021 to June, 2025 is furnished at Annexure-II.
(c) to (e) Yes. There are third party review and also NABH assessment besides visit by the
Central team in different States/UTs to review the implementation progress of different
activities/services being provided by established Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) [AAM
(Ayush)] which were approved with an objective to establish a holistic wellness model based
on Ayush principles and practices focusing on preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative
healthcare by establishing integration with existing public healthcare system to provide
informed choice to the needy public by making Ayush services available in a team based
approach.
It has been observed by visiting teams that footfall of the beneficiaries visiting to the
AAM (Ayush) has been subsequently increased after upgradation of Ayush Dispensaries/Sub
health centers into AAM (Ayush) because in addition to OPD services, these facilities are
also providing various other services like Prakriti Parikshan, Yoga related activities at the
level of facility as well as community, awareness about uses of common medicinal plants etc.
Further, State/UT Governments have been suggested by the visiting team for appropriate
training & capacity building of AAM (Ayush) team, strengthening of referral linkages with
other public health facilities, effective involvement of field level workers specially ASHAs
etc. for better outcome of the activities being conducted through AAM (Ayush).
Ministry of Ayush and NABH worked closely with the support of State/UT
Governments to ensure that the identified gaps were addressed timely and effectively,
facilitating the closure of non- compliances and ensuring adherence to the highest quality
standards such as infrastructure, staffing and service quality across the country particularly in
underserved regions like rural and tribal areas in Maharashtra.
