IMPACT OF THE ZED 2.0 SCHEME ON MSMES IN THE KONKAN REGION
277. SHRI DHAIRYASHIL MOHAN PATIL:
Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registered in Raigad and
Ratnagiri districts since the implementation of the new amendments to the ZED 2.0 Scheme;
(b) the number of MSMEs in these districts that have successfully obtained Bronze, Silver and
Gold certification levels under the policy of a 20% reduction in certification costs ?
(c) whether Government has conducted any special awareness programmes in the Konkan belt
regarding the multiple testing systems and financial assistance available for product certification; and
(d) the manner in which "Zero Defect Zero Effect" model has improved the export
competitiveness of local industries?
ANSWER

(a) & (b): The ZED 2.0 came into effect from 18.09.2024 and the total number of Micro, Small
and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registered and that have successfully obtained Bronze, Silver and
Gold certification levels in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts since the implementation of the new
amendments including 20% reduction in certification costs are as follows:

(c): The Government conducts awareness programmes across the country including regions in the
Konkan belt, under different schemes of the Ministry. Further, the information on multiple testing
systems and the financial assistance available for product certification is disseminated through ZED
portal i.e. www.zed.msme.gov.in.
(d): The ZED Certification envisages to encourage and enable MSMEs for manufacturing of quality
products using latest technology, tools & to constantly upgrade their processes for achievement of high
quality and high productivity with the least effect on the environment and develop an ecosystem for
ZED Manufacturing in MSMEs, for enhancing competitiveness and enabling exports. This is reflected
in the positive response towards adoption of ZED practices. The Zero Defect in processes and Zero
Effect on environment as part of ZED Programme helps in building credibility and trust among
international customers, making Indian products more competitive in export markets.
