IMPLEMENTATION OF JJM IN DADRA AND NAGAR HAVELI

Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has been implemented in various States of the
country since 2019 to provide adequate, regular and long-term supply of tap water to every
rural household;
(b) if so, the details thereof in respect of the Union Territory (UT) of Dadra and Nagar
Haveli; and
(c) the details and number of households receiving tap water supply in their homes so far
under JJM in the said UT, district-wise?

(a) to (c) Government of India is committed to make provision for safe & potable tap water
supply in adequate quantity (55 lpcd), of prescribed quality and on a regular & long-term
basis to all rural households in the country. Towards this end, the Government of India
launched the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), to be implemented in partnership with States/ UTs
including UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli in August 2019.
Drinking Water is a state subject, and hence, the responsibility of planning, approval,
implementation, operation, and maintenance of drinking water supply schemes, including
those under JJM, lies with State/UT Governments. The Government of India supports the
States by providing technical and financial assistance.
Significant progress has been made in the country since the launch of JJM, towards
enhancing access to tap water for rural households. At the start of JJM in August 2019, only
3.23 Crore (16.72%) rural households were reported to have tap water connections. So far, as
reported by States/ UTs on JJM-IMIS, as on 27.01.2026, around 12.55 Crore additional rural
households have been provided with tap water connections under JJM. Thus, as on
27.01.2026, out of 19.36 Crore rural households in the country, approximately 15.79 Crore
(81.56%) households are reported to have tap water supply.
As reported by the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, at the start of JJM in the UT on
15.08.2019, no (0.00 %) rural households had tap water connections. Since then, around 0.85
lakh rural households have been provided with tap water connections. Thus, as on
27.01.2026, out of 0.85 lakh rural households in the UT, 0.85 lakh (100.00%) households are
reported to have tap water supply. The details and number of households receiving tap water
supply in their homes so far under JJM in the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, district-wise
