Implementation of National AYUSH Mission
993. Dr. D. Purandeswari
Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether the systematic implementation of the National AYUSH Mission has expanded the
network of traditional healthcare facilities across Andhra Pradesh, if so, the details thereof;
(b) if so, the total number of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres/Ayushman Arogya
Mandirs (AAMs) successfully operationalised in the State to provide free preventive healthcare
during the financial year 2025-26;
(c) whether this proactive infrastructural development has measurably reduced the out-of
pocket medical expenditures for rural families relying on alternative medicine;
(d) the details of the central financial allocations disbursed to the State Government for
procuring high-quality Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines for these primary centres; and
(e) the steps proposed to integrate AYUSH healthcare facilities with the Ayushman Bharat
Digital Mission (ABDM) for creation and integration of electronic health records for patients
in Andhra Pradesh?
ANSWER

(a) and (b) Yes, as reported by the State, the systematic implementation of the National Ayush
Mission (NAM) has significantly expanded and strengthened the network of traditional
healthcare facilities across Andhra Pradesh as submitted below.126 Ayush Dispensaries have been upgraded as Ayush Health and Wellness Centers,
now known as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush) [AAM (Ayush)] are functional and are
catering the needs of the public with upgraded facilities with proper infrastructure and
furniture to increase the out patients facilities.
Further, as reported by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh,
construction/renovation works have been carried out for 150 existing Ayush dispensaries that
were in a dilapidated condition. The State has also reported completion of the construction of
two new 50-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospitals at Kakinada and Visakhapatnam, to improve
access to traditional medicine in the State, including in rural areas.
(c) Yes, as reported by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, the patient flow has
increased, resulting in greater utilization of Ayush services by the public. The State has further
reported that the medical expenses for rural families has decreased as the Government is
supplying medicines and providing healthcare services free of cost.
As per the State's Annual Out-Patient Department (OPD) registry from April 2025 to March
2026, an aggregate total of 1,162,527 Out-Patient (OP) consultations for Ayurveda, 844,578
for Homoeopathy, and 212,003 for Unani systems were recorded in the dispensary segment
alone. Additionally, dedicated Ayush hospitals registered an aggregated annual volume of
247,336 OP visits (including 75,525 Ayurveda, 152,052 Homoeopathy, and 19,759 Unani
cases). These interventions have contributed to strengthening and expanding the network of
traditional healthcare facilities in the State.
(d) The State Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported that an amount of Rs. 22.16
crores were allocated during the financial year 2025-26 for procurement of Ayush medicines
including high quality Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines. The sufficient stocks of
medicines procured and the dispensaries are well stocked with medicines to cater to the needs
of the public attending these dispensaries.
(e) The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) was launched by the Government of
India in September 2021 to support the development of an integrated, citizen-centric national
digital health ecosystem. As of 20th July 2026, 14,086 ABHAs and 43,298 ABHA linked
records have been generated, including 723 ABHAs and 39,153 ABHA linked records in
Andhra Pradesh, through the ABDM-enabled Ayush 1.0 and Ayush 2.0 applications. This will
enable seamless digital cross-referrals and modern interoperable digital health reporting across
Andhra Pradesh. Further, Ayush Hospital Management Information System (AHMIS) has been
developed under Ayush Grid project which is Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)
compliant. Through the platform, patient registration, electronic health Records, referrals and
continuity of care have been enabled digitally.
