Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware of the slow progress or delay in implementation of
Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY) and if so, the details thereof and
the reasons therefor;
(b) the total number of applications received and approved under the PM-SGMBY since its
launch in West Bengal, district-wise;
(c) the total number of beneficiaries and households benefited under the said yojana in
Darjeeling, Kalimpong and North Dinajpur districts;
(d) the total funds sanctioned, released and utilised under the yojana in West Bengal, district-
wise; and
(e) the details of the subsidy provided and application process followed to avail benefits under
the yojana?

(a) to (e) PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) is a demand driven scheme for
installation of rooftop solar (RTS) systems, wherein all residential consumers in the country having
grid connected electricity connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits of the scheme
by applying on the National Portal of the scheme. The scheme is progressing well and as on
30.11.2025, a total of 18,99,494 RTS systems have been installed, benefitting 23,79,580
households, under the scheme across the country.
In the state of West Bengal, as on 30.11.2025, a total of 11,565 applications have been received,
of which 1,099 reported installation of RTS systems covering 1,162 households. Based on the
inspections undertaken by respective DISCOMs and submission of redemption request by the
consumers on the National portal, aggregate subsidy amount of Rs. 2.2 crore has been released for
298 installations. The district wise details covering Darjeeling, Kalimpong and North Dinajpur
districts for the state of West Bengal are given at Annexure.
