IMPLEMENTATION OF PMFME SCHEME
886. SMT. GEETA ALIAS CHANDRAPRABHA:
Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the number of micro food-processing units established so far under the Pradhan Mantri
Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme;
(b) whether the Ministry has assessed the pace of implementation in view of substantial funds
released;
(c) whether the Ministry has identified districts in Uttar Pradesh where uptake of PMFME
support remains low despite strong agricultural production; and
(d) whether any targeted interventions are being planned to support micro-entrepreneurs in
such districts and to enhance local food-processing value addition?

(a): Under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME)
Scheme, loans for 1,72,707 micro food processing enterprises have been sanctioned under credit
linked subsidy component till 31st December 2025.
(b): The Ministry regularly reviews and monitors the pace of implementation of the Scheme
through periodic assessment of physical and financial progress, review meetings with States/UTs
and monitoring at the national, State and district levels to ensure effective and timely utilisation of
funds.
The Ministry has got conducted a Third Party mid-term impact evaluation of the PMFME
Scheme which highlights the scheme's financial discipline and its capability to translate allocated
funds into tangible benefits for the micro food processing sector. The consistent improvement in
expenditure percentage underscores the scheme's growing maturity and effectiveness, indicating a
positive trajectory in achieving its objectives of formalizing and developing the micro food
processing enterprises in the country.
(c): The scheme provides support of credit-linked grant of 35% of the eligible project cost, seed
capital of up to Rs. 40,000, capacity building for beneficiaries and branding & marketing across
the country including all the districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Under the scheme, loans for 22060 micro food processing enterprises have been sanctioned for the
State of Uttar Pradesh under credit linked subsidy component and, seed capital has been approvedfor 8511 Self Help Group members till 31st December 2025. In addition to this, 14 Incubation
centres have also been approved. The district-wise details of loan sanctioned, seed capital approved
and incubation center approved for the State of Uttar Pradesh are at Annexure.
The scheme is demand driven and is implemented through State/ UT Governments. Any interested
individual/entity may avail the benefit for upgradation of existing or setting up of new micro-food
processing facility, in accordance with the scheme guidelines.
(d): Ministry does not allocate district-wise targets, however, the Ministry in coordination with
the State Government is encouraging targeted awareness generation and hand-holding support in
all the districts including districts where uptake is relatively low despite strong agricultural
production. Ministry has taken various initiatives / measures to increase the scheme’s uptake and
to create awareness among the various stakeholders and public at large through National & State
level awareness campaigns such as Newspaper advertisements, Radio Jingles, Exhibitions &
Expos, Fairs, Buyer-Seller Meets etc. since the inception of the scheme.
