IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INDIA AI MISSION
2825. SMT. SANGEETA KUMARI SINGH DEO:
Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to
state:
(a) the present status of implementation of the IndiaAI Mission including the details of Artificial
Intelligence (AI) computing infrastructure, Common Computing Facility and AI Kosh established
across the country;
(b) the details of AI startups, academic institutions and research organisations from Odisha that
have received support under the IndiaAI Mission indicating the nature of assistance provided;
(c) whether the Government has taken steps to expand AI research, skilling and computing
infrastructure in eastern India particularly in Odisha and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the details of funds allocated and utilised under the IndiaAI Mission during the last two years,

(a) to (c): India's AI policy is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of democratizing
technology. It is aimed at creating economic opportunities and employment for youth, while
addressing risks associated with AI.
India's AI strategy builds on India's vibrant IT sector with annual revenue of 300 billion dollars
and 60 Lakh strong workforce. India AI Mission has seven pillars including development of AI
models, applications, datasets, talent development and affordable compute.
Progress under IndiaAI Mission till date:
Affordable compute: Compute resources are made available to startups, MSMEs, researchers,
academic institutions, students and Government entities at subsidised rates of up to 40% through
the IndiaAI Compute Portal (https://compute.indiaai.gov.in), under a published End User Policy
that defines eligibility criteria and the methodology for access.
● Compute Service Providers empaneled: 15
● Number of end-users/projects supported: 237
● GPU hours sanctioned: approximately 93.18 lakh
● A High-Performance AI Compute System of approximately 1.1 EFLOPS is being
established at the NIC Data Centre, Shastri Park, Delhi.
● Subsidized access to high-end GPU compute has been allocated to Odisha-based
entities, including Odisha Computer Application Centre.IndiaAI labs:
● 27 India Data and AI Labs established, supporting training for more than 3,500
students.
● 188 additional Labs have been identified for establishment across ITIs/Polytechnics.
● NIELIT Data & AI Lab, Bhubaneswar: One IndiaAI Data & AI Lab has been
operationalised at the NIELIT Centre, Bhubaneswar, delivering foundational courses
in Data Annotation and Data Curation. 374 students have registered for the two
foundational courses at the Bhubaneswar Centre. Of these, 199 students have
completed the training.
AI Centres of Excellence: Under the IndiaAI Startup Financing pillar, a scheme for establishment
of 58 AI Centres of Excellence (AI-CoEs) has been approved in collaboration with State/UT
Governments and industry partners. The scheme includes a provision for 2 Artificial Intelligence
Centres of Excellence in Odisha.
(d): The budgetary allocation under the IndiaAI Mission during the last two years is as follows:
