INCENTIVES TO SURPLUS RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCING STATES

Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has incentivized the surplus new and renewable energy producing States
in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(c) the details of the new and renewable energy capacity installed and generated across the country,
State-wise; and
(d) the funds allocated and disbursed to various new and renewable energy power projects during the
last five years, project and State-wise?

(a) & (b) At present there is no specific provision to incentivise States for generating surplus renewable
energy in the country. However, the Government is implementing various schemes and programmes,
which are mostly demand driven, providing financial support and incentives for installation of
renewable energy projects by states/UTs. The states/UTs can avail financial support and incentives
through participation in these schemes and programmes. Further, the economy of the home State where
renewable energy plants are set up already gains by way of increased business, higher employment,
etc.
(c) The source-wise and State-wise renewable energy capacity installed in the country as on
31.10.2025 is given at Annexure-I. And, the source-wise and State-wise renewable energy generated
in the country during FY 2025-26 (Upto October, 2025) is given at Annexure-II.
(d) Most of the schemes and programmes being implemented by the Ministry of New & Renewable
Energy are demand driven, and therefore, State-wise funds allocation is not made. The details of funds
released under major ongoing schemes/ programme of the Ministry during the last five years are given
at Annexure-III.
