Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to include Tirupati–Srikalahasti in the
Smart Industrial Township model for mixed-use IT and residential
development and if so, the details thereof;
(b) the details of any proposals under AMRUT and Smart Cities Mission 2.0
for augmenting urban infrastructure around the new IT parks;
(c) whether the Government has considered fiscal support for affordable
housing for IT and manufacturing workers in the area and if so, the
details thereof; and
(d) the measures being proposed to ensure sustainable urban planning and
climate-resilient infrastructure in the upcoming tech zones?

(a) to (d): There is no such proposal in the Ministry. The Smart Cities
Mission has already come to end on 31.03.2025 and there is no
budgetary provision under the mission post its closure.
No specific fiscal support for affordable Housing for IT and
manufacturing workers in the area mentioned is funded by the Ministry
of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). However, MoHUA supplements
the efforts of States/UTs, by providing Central Assistance for pucca
houses to eligible urban beneficiaries across the country under Pradhan
Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U) since 25.06.2015. Based on the
learnings from the experiences of implementation of PMAY-U, MoHUA
has revamped the scheme and launched PMAY-U 2.0 'Housing for All'
Mission with effect from 01.09.2024 for implementation in urban areas
across the country to construct, purchase and rent a house by eligible
beneficiaries at affordable cost, for 1 crore additional eligible

beneficiaries through four verticals i.e., Beneficiary Led Construction
(BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental
Housing (ARH) and Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS). PMAY-U 2.0 guidelines
and Unified Web-portal for submitting the online applications can be
accessed through https://pmay-urban.gov.in.
Under PMAY-U 2.0, preference is given to Widows, single women,
Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, Transgenders, persons
belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and other
weaker and vulnerable sections of the society.
The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)
was launched in the year 2015 and selected 500 cities (now 485 cities
including 15 merged cities) and towns across the country and focused
on development of basic infrastructure in urban areas, in the sectors of
water supply, sewerage and septage management etc. AMRUT 2.0 was
launched in the year 2021 in all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) / cities,
enabling the cities to become ‘self-reliant’ and ‘water secure’. Providing
universal coverage of sewerage and septage management in 500 AMRUT
cities is one of the major focus areas of AMRUT 2.0. Under the Mission,
States / UTs are empowered to select, appraise, propose and implement
projects as per their priorities within the mission guidelines.
