Parliament Question: Increase in Working Days under VB-G RAM G

Smt. Delkar Kalaben Mohanbhai: Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government proposes to increase the number of working days under Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission-Gramin (VB-G RAM G), if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government proposes to launch new programmes for generating sustainable employment in the rural areas of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, if so, the details thereof; and (c) whether the Government proposes to provide additional financial assistance to women Self-Help Groups under National Rural Livelihood Mission in Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN) (a) & (b): Consequent upon commencement of the Viksit Bharat– Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025, the scheme has successfully been implemented in rural areas of the entire country w.e.f. 01.07.2026. The VB-G RAM G provides for a statutory guarantee of one hundred and twenty five days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to undertake unskilled manual work against one hundred days of guaranteed wage employment available under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS. The new scheme has been successfully implemented in rural areas of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli also w.e.f. 0.1.07.2026 and an interim allocation Rs. 9.02 crore has been made for the UT. Page 1 of 2Further, under Section 5(4) of the Act, the State/UT Governments may make provision for providing additional days of employment beyond the period guaranteed under the Act from their own resources. The Act also aims to strengthen sustainable rural livelihoods through the creation of durable assets and implementation of the permissible works specified in Schedule I of the Act, namely Water- related Works, Core Rural Infrastructure, Livelihood-related Infrastructure and Special Works to Mitigate Extreme Weather Events. These provisions are intended to enhance livelihood security, strengthen rural infrastructure and promote sustainable rural development. (c): Funds are allocated by the Central Government under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) for extending livelihood assistance to Self Help Groups in the form of capitalisation support (Revolving Funds/RF, Community Investment Fund/CIF) as well as for other mission activities. Further, based on the utilisation of funds and the assessed needs of the States/UTs, additional allocations are provided to them within the mission's annual overall budgetary provision. The detail of capitalization support provided to Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu since inception is Rs.980.71 lakhs as on 31st July 2026.
