2021
1278.SHRI MITHLESH KUMAR:
Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government proposes to establish a separate and independent office of the Chief
Examiner in Gujarat with adequate infrastructure, facilities and support staff under the Inland
Vessels Act, 2021; and
(b) if so, the timeline for its establishment and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) and (b) As per Section 36 of the Inland Vessels Act, 2021 read with Rule 5 of the Inland
Vessels (Manning) Rules, 2022, the appointment of Chief Examiner falls under the purview of
respective State Government. Therefore, the establishment of office of the Chief Examiner in
Gujarat with adequate infrastructure, facilities and support staff falls within the purview of the
Government of Gujarat.
