Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is the authority to grant authorization to the entities to lay, build, operate or expand Gas Pipeline as per PNGRB Act, 2006. The status of operational as well as under construction/ partially commissioned natural gas pipelines passing through the state of Tamil Nadu is at Annexure-I. Providing Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections, establishment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and laying of pipeline infrastructure is part of development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) Networks and the same is carried out by the entities authorized by PNGRB, as per their Minimum Work Programme (MWP). In the state of Tamil Nadu, PNGRB has authorized 18 Geographical Areas (GAs) (1 GA spread over Puducherry (UT) & Tamil Nadu and 1 GA spread over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka) covering all the districts in the state.
