Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the total number of solar home systems installed under various Government schemes
in the Country since 2021, State and year-wise;
(b) the details of the solar power capacity has been added through solar home systems in rural and
urban areas since 2021, State and year-wise;
(c) the details of the measures are being taken to ensure efficient maintenance and servicing of
installed solar home systems;
(d) the contribution of solar home systems in Government’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable
energy by the year 2030;
(e) the details of the steps taken by the Government to make solar home systems affordable for
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS); and
(f) whether the Government is considering to integrate smart grid technology with solar home
systems to enhance energy efficiency and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) The Government is implementing the New Solar Power Scheme (for Tribal and PVTG
Habitations/Villages) under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) and
Dharti Aabha Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JGUA). Under this scheme, off-grid systems (Solar
Home Lighting Systems/Solar Mini Grids) are being provided to tribal and PVTG households, multi-
purpose centres and public institutions in Tribal and PVTG areas, where electricity supply through grid
is not techno-economically feasible.
As on 30.06.2025, 2805 nos. of households have been benefitted, the details of which are given at
Annexure.
In addition, under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY), a total of 16.22 lakh
households have benefitted from rooftop solar installation across the country, so far.
(c) As per the scheme, the off-grid systems being provided to the tribal/PVTG households includes 5
years of comprehensive maintenance services. In addition, a third-party inspection after completion of
two years is also to be conducted by the implementing agency.
(d) to (f) The off-grid solar systems installed under the scheme would benefit the tribal/PVTG
households in areas where electricity supply through grid is not techno-economically feasible. Under
the scheme, the Government is providing a Central Financial Assistance (CFA) of up to Rs. 50,000 per
Household for the off-grid solar system.
Under PMSG: MBY, a maximum CFA of Rs 78000/- is provided for solar rooftop systems of capacity
upto 3 kW. There is also a provision of 10% additional CFA for households in special category States/
UTs.
