Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the steps taken by the Government to promote integration of AYUSH into the National Public
Health System (NPHS), including co-location in PHCs, CHCs and District Hospitals, State/UT-
wise, particularly in Madhya Pradesh;
(b) the details of the departments of integrative medicine established in Central Government
hospitals like AIIMS, particularly in Rajasthan;
(c) the total number of Health and Wellness Centres where AYUSH services have been
collocated under National Health Programmes in the country, State/UT-wise especially in
Rajasthan particularly in Pali Lok Sabha Constituency and Himachal Pradesh and district of
Cuttack in Odisha;
(d) the details of the funding that has been allocated specifically for institutional AYUSH
integration since inception especially in Cuttack of Odisha; and
(e) whether the Government proposes to establish additional AYUSH Health and Wellness
Centres and an Integrative Medicine Unit in North East Delhi, in view of the dense population
and current infrastructure gap and if so, the details thereof?ANSWER

(a) Government of India has adopted a strategy of Co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary
Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs) in the
country including Odisha, thus enabling the choice to the patients for different systems of
medicines under a single window. The engagement of Ayush doctors/ paramedics and their
training is being supported by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under National Health
Mission (NHM), while the support for Ayush infrastructure, equipment/ furniture and medicines
is being provided by the Ministry of Ayush under National Ayush Mission (NAM), as shared
responsibilities. The State/UT-wise status of Ayush co-located facilities across country including
Madhya Pradesh is furnished at Annexure I.
(b) Ministry of Ayush and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has jointly taken up an
initiative to set up Ayush-ICMR Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research (AI-ACIHR),
at various AIIMS to conduct research on identified areas focusing on integrative healthcare.
Under this initiative, AIIMS Jodhpur has been identified as Advanced Centre for Integrative
Health Research in Geriatric Health in Rajasthan.
(c) Under NAM, as per the proposals received from State/UT Governments through their State
Annual Action Plans (SAAPs), 12500 units of existing Ayush Dispensaries and Sub Health
Centres have been upgraded as Ayush Health & Wellness Centres [now renamed as Ayushman
Arogya Mandir (AAM) (Ayush)] to strengthen primary healthcare and to address the health
related issues as a holistic healthcare model in the country through different Ayush interventions
and these AAM (Ayush) are also linked with different National Ayush public health programmes
for providing Ayush healthcare services to the beneficiaries as per the requirement. As reported
by State/UT Governments, all AAM (Ayush) are operational. As approved, there are 77 AAM
(Ayush) in Pali District of Rajasthan, 761 units of AAM (Ayush) in Himachal Pradesh and 17
units of AAM (Ayush) in Cuttack district of Odisha. Further, the State/UT-wise status of
approved AAM (Ayush) is furnished at Annexure-II.
(d) As reported by State Government of Odisha, an amount of Rs. 90.66 lakhs has been allocated
specifically for institutional Ayush integration regarding Co-location of PHCs/CHCs/DHs, since
inception of National Ayush Mission (NAM) in Cuttack of Odisha.(e) Public health being a State Subject, the establishment of additional Ayush Health and
Wellness Centers or Integrative Medicine Unit in North-East Delhi in view of the dense
population and current infrastructure gap comes under the purview of respective UT
Government. However, under NAM there is provision of financial assistance for Co-location of
Ayush units at PHCs/CHCs/DHs and accordingly, UT Government may avail financial
assistance by submitting suitable proposal through SAAPs within the existing provisions of
NAM guidelines.
