Shri RakeshRathor: Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware of the widespread irregularities and corruption in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in various development blocks of Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh, district- wise; (b) whether the Government is aware that some local officials often allegedly demand commissions from Panchayat representatives, contractors and labourers for works related to Gram Panchayats; (c) if so, whether any inquiry has been conducted by the Government so far, if so, the details thereof; (d) whether any disciplinary action has been taken against any official, if so, the details thereof; and (e) the details of steps taken by the Government to ensure transparency and social accounting under MGNREGS? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN) (a)to (d): Since the responsibility of implementation of the scheme at ground level lies with the State Government, a report was sought from Government of Uttar Pradesh. A copy of the report received from the State Government of Uttar Pradesh is given at Annexure.
