ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI
(SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY)
(a) to (d) During 2016-17, three major/ medium irrigation projects of Assam were included under
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (PMKSY-AIBP)
and one irrigation project taken up after approval of implementation of PMKSY for the period of 2021-
26. None of these projects benefit Dhubri district.
Further, a cluster of 61 Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI) schemes of Assam having estimated cost of
Rs. 399.09 crore was approved for Central Assistance prior to launch of PMKSY. Out of these 61 SMI
schemes, one scheme, namely “Rangapani FIS” having estimated cost of Rs. 4.98 crore, is in Dhubri
district. As informed by Govt. of Assam, the scheme is partially completed creating irrigation potential
of 45 hectare and could not be completed due to recurrent floods, irregular flows and land acquisition
issues.
